| Description |
English: "majority of the Battalion. We have had one or two cases of malaria, but the majority of the sick list is made up of lads who dabbled too deeply in the flesh post of Caimanera-our nearest town for recreation. Now there is a town that would tax your imagination to its fullest limits. The town itself is situated about ten miles from our base, but is only accessible by boat. A scarcity of transportation limits each battery to eight men, for liberty, every other night and the boats leave here at 5:00 P.M. returning at 10:15. Of course that is only five hours, but apparently that is more than enough time for some of the troops."
