Caro zio e famiglia. Con grande piacere ho ricevuto la vostra lettera che in certi punti mi ha sorpreso specie nel crollo della casa [via Savenella 40 Bologna] che fino ad ora nessuno me lo aveva detto. Certo che questo in una guerra come questa col modo che è stata condotta non è per me una sorpresa senza tante spiegazioni so le conseguenze che succede che mi è toccata ma io a rotoli soli questa sorte.
Avete certamente portato al sicuro tutta la roba di valore specie i quadri dello zio.
Mi rallegro tanto che Tino e Arrigo sono a casa auguro a loro fortuna specie ad Arrigo ora non manca di pace fortuna data la sua abilità.
E voi caro zio ora a quanto ho compreso nel vostro scritto siete molto soddisfatto che la Vittoria abbia sorriso ai nostri alleati. Certo ora col nome di italiano si fa poca strada. Speriamo che possa cambiare e riconoscere i sacrifici che hanno fatto fare a noi tutti giovani e vecchi e che si possa ritornare alla vita normale come Cittadini degni del nome d’Italia Democratica.
Ricevete ora i miei più affettuosi saluti con la speranza di potervi presto riabbracciare.

Dear uncle and family. It was with great pleasure that I received your letter which surprised me at certain points, especially in the collapse of the house [via Savenella 40 Bologna] which until now no one had told me. Of course this in a war like this with the way it was conducted is not a surprise for me without many explanations I know the consequences that happen to me but I am alone in this fate.
You have certainly taken all the valuables to safety, especially the uncle's paintings.
I'm so happy that Tino and Arrigo are at home, I wish them luck, especially Arrigo, now he doesn't lack peace of mind, luck given his ability.
And you dear uncle now from what I understood in your writing you are very satisfied that Victory smiled at our allies. Of course, now with the name of Italian, little progress is made. Let's hope that he can change and recognize the sacrifices they have made us all young and old and that we can return to normal life as citizens worthy of the name of Democratic Italy.
Now receive my most affectionate greetings with the hope of being able to embrace you again soon.
