English: CWGC gravestone for Petty Officer Frank Herbert Blundell, Royal Navy, HMS Vortigern (D37), in the town cemetery of Cromer, Norfolk. Frank was the son of Ernest and Louisa Blundell; husband of Iris Muriel Blundell, of Ryde, Isle of Wight. He died on 15 March 1942, age 31 years old. Vortigern was sunk off Cromer on 15 March 1942, while defending a coastal convoy against attack by E-boats. She was torpedoed by the E-boat S104, and sank with the loss of 110 lives. |
