About[edit]

I used to work as a semi-professional newspaper photographer in high school and college, but now just do it as an occasional hobby. During college I was also the assistant to a magazine cover photographer who used an 8"x10" camera with seven large strobe lights in the studio, which looked a bit like this setup. Her work was similar in quality to movie stills from the 30s and 40s, with amazing detail, and during her career had shot numerous movie stars' portraits for covers and ads, including this one. I've since come to value good portrait photos.

Many bio articles lack good photos so when I find useful images that are PD, based on U.S. copyright laws as explained in film still, for example, I have uploaded them and added them to relevant bios. I try to abide by the Commons precautionary principle when doing so.

Some of the images I've added or modifed.
