This documentation is transcluded from Template:Species/doc.

Creates a formatted list of links to either species categories (default) or galleries.

For nothospecies, simply add rank=nothospecies.

For virus species (that are not displayed in the form G. species), prefer {{Taxa|vira|.

Use {{Species2}} to list a big number of species in a more compact way.

Note: if you want to edit this template, first try your modifications on {{Species/sandbox}}.You can then test your edits in {{Species/testcases}}.
When the new version is ready, you can move it to the main template.

Example[edit]

{{Species|S|aponaria|caespitosa|glutinosa|hispanica|ocymoides|officinalis|†sicula|†vaccaria|source=MSW|accessdate=2012-03-29}}
displays:

S. caespitosa, S. glutinosa, S. hispanica, S. ocymoides, S. officinalis, S. sicula, S. vaccaria

Note: prefixing a name with "†" will add the symbol before it to designate it as extinct.

Syntax[edit]

{{Species|G|enus|species1|species2|species3|species4|...}}

The genus name is split in two: the first letter in uppercase is passed as first parameter. the other letters in lowercase are passed as second parameter.

Optional parameters[edit]

  • Use |rank=nothospecies to list nothospecies (for sectio or series, ask Liné1 first)
  • Use |source=<WebSiteShortName> to display the source of this genus list. See Taxasource/doc for the complete list of managed WebSiteShortName
    • Use |name=<genusName> with |source= to specify the genus name if the current category/gallery name is not exactly the genus name (In article "Vanda (Orchidaceae)" use name=Vanda)
    • Use |source2=<WebSiteShortName2> to provide additional sources (DEPRECATED: <WebSiteShortName> can contain multiple sources separated by &)
    • Use |ref=<reference> if your source is not managed by {{Taxasource}} (|ref2= is also managed)
  • Use |accessdate=<yyyy-mm-dd> to provide the date of the retrieval of the data
  • Use |accepted=no to specify that none of the listed species are recognized with this name
  • Use |extant=yes to specify that none of the listed species are extinct
  • Use |count=<count> to specify the species count
  • Use |inline=y to make it all one line (and it should wrap correctly if it takes up more than one line in the browser)
  • Use |note=<note> to add a note at the bottom of the list (such as "This list may be incomplete" or further clarification on the sources used to create the list).
  • Use |title=<title> to change the text "Included species:" (Warning, If you set the title, the title will not change with the user language)

Optional per-species parameters[edit]

  • for extinct species:
    • Use |†<speciesName>| to display that <speciesName> is extinct (|<speciesName>|<speciesName>=†| is Deprecated)
  • for disambiguation (like Proboscidea which category is Category:Proboscidea (Martyniaceae)):
    • Use |<speciesName> (<disamb>)|
  • for a note on a species:
    • Use |<speciesName> note: A small note| to display a note on a specific species
