Template:PD-Art-two

From Wikimedia Commons, the free media repository
Jump to navigation Jump to search
This is a faithful photographic reproduction of a two-dimensional, public domain work of art. The work of art itself is in the public domain in its source country for the following reason:
Public domain

This work is in the public domain in its country of origin and other countries and areas where the copyright term is the author's life plus 70 years or fewer.

 Note that a few countries have copyright terms longer than 70 years: Mexico has 100 years, Jamaica has 95 years, Colombia has 80 years, and Guatemala and Samoa have 75 years. This image may not be in the public domain in these countries, which moreover do not implement the rule of the shorter term. Honduras has a general copyright term of 75 years, but it does implement the rule of the shorter term. Copyright may extend on works created by French who died for France in World War II (more information), Russians who served in the Eastern Front of World War II (known as the Great Patriotic War in Russia) and posthumously rehabilitated victims of Soviet repressions (more information).

It is also in the public domain in the United States for the following reason:
Public domain
This work is in the public domain in the United States because it was published (or registered with the U.S. Copyright Office) before January 1, 1929.
The official position taken by the Wikimedia Foundation is that "faithful reproductions of two-dimensional public domain works of art are public domain".
This photographic reproduction is therefore also considered to be in the public domain in the United States. In other jurisdictions, re-use of this content may be restricted; see Reuse of PD-Art photographs for details.

Template documentationview · edit · history · purge ]
This documentation is transcluded from Template:PD-Art-two/doc.

This template is similar to {{PD-Art}}, but allows you to specify two tags: one for the reason the work is in the public domain in the source country and one for the reason it is in the public domain in the United States.

For example:

  • A photograph of a 1911 English painting whose author died in 1925 may be tagged using the following:
    • {{PD-Art-two|PD-old-70|PD-US-expired}}
    • {{PD-Art-two|PD-old-auto|PD-US-expired|deathyear=1925}}
    • In these cases, however, you could also use {{PD-Art|PD-old-70-expired}} or {{PD-Art|PD-old-auto-expired|deathyear=1925}}.
  • A photograph of a 1945 Canadian photograph may be tagged {{PD-Art-two|PD-Canada|PD-1996}}.

If the work is in the public domain in the source country but not the United States (see Commons:URAA-restored copyrights, do not use this template. Instead, use {{PD-Art}} for the source country along with {{Not-PD-US-URAA}} for the United States. Note that works that are under copyright in the United States, including those restored by the URAA, may be subject to deletion.
