This template and the categories it provides are critical for several Flickr related processes. This template contains some very complicated syntax and you should not edit it unless you know what you're doing.

Used to report Flickr review status. See also Template:FlickreviewR.

The template automatically sets the following categories: Category:Flickr review needed, Category:Flickr images reviewed by File Upload Bot (Magnus Manske), Category:Flickr images reviewed by trusted users, or Category:Possibly unfree Flickr images

  1. The image is initially in Category:Flickr review needed.
  2. If the image is currently available on Flickr under the same license as on the Commons and not by an author listed here, modify the review template to {{flickrreview|YourUsername|Date}}. This places it in Category:Flickr images reviewed by trusted users.
  3. If the image is currently available on Flickr under a license which is allowed on the Commons, but the license on Commons is not the same (such as an older version of the same license), update the license tag on the Commons image to match the Flickr one and modify the review template to {{flickrreview|YourUsername|Date|changed=oldlicense}}. This places it in Category:Flickr images reviewed by trusted users.
  4. If the licence is allowed on the Commons, сheck if the author is properly attributed.
  5. If the image is currently available on Flickr with a license which is not acceptable on Commons, do not update the license tag. Instead modify the review tag to {{flickrreview|YourUsername|Date|CurrentFlickrLicense}}. This places it in Category:Possibly unfree Flickr images.
  6. Please leave a comment on the photo, such as "Thanks for licensing this CC-BY! Your choice of a free license has allowed us to use your image in Wikimedia Commons (https://commons.wikimedia.org/ )." to confirm that the photographer did not make a mistake in their license selection and to encourage them to join our community.


Do not use the syntax given above below "Usage" headline - always use the syntax from the examples below!

  • If your username contains special characters please do not use a transcription for those characters (ü needs to stay ü and not ue)
  • -> not following these instruction will result in your reviewed images reported here
