The Plague Column (German : Pestsäule) stands on the Graben in Vienna. It was built as a consequence of a promise made by emperor Leopold I during the pest outbreak of 1679. The architects were Matthias Rauchmiller, Lodovico Burnacini and the young J.B. Fischer von Erlach. The lowest six sculptures were made by Ignaz Bendl.
