Description

ID#: 2914 Description: This photograph shows a patient with tinea versicolor on the skin of the chest due to the yeast Malassezia furfur.

Usually this yeast grows sparsely without causing a rash. In some individuals, however it grows more actively for reasons unknown. This results in pale brown flaky patches on the trunk, neck, or arms.
