Picture inverted left-to-right[edit]

It seems to me that this picture is reversed left to right : The inverted L on top right should appear as a L for left on top left. The inverted 2 on top left should appear as a 2 on top right. The heart is also not in its normal place. Trassiorf (talk) 14:38, 11 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is now corrected : I made a symmetric picture. However, a grey band appears now at the bottom. If someone does something better, let him do it. The original comments still refer to the inverted picture, and if someone uses the picture, he better takes care of the fact ! Trassiorf (talk) 15:35, 11 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This inversion is erroneous because PA (posteroanterior) chest x-rays are evaluated as if the viewer is facing the patient.

Thus, it's only natural to see the heart on the right from our point of view, unless the patient has dextrocardia, a condition that is quite rare.

So, the directions of any letters/numbers on an x-ray must not be the criterion for flipping a PA chest x-ray.
