Images with “No Known Copyright Restrictions” in The Commons on Flickr:

The San Diego Air & Space Museum is participating in The Commons on Flickr to further the Museum’s educational mission and increase public access to its collection of photographs.

The Museum’s images that are part of The Commons are marked “no known copyright restrictions,” indicating that the Museum is unaware of any current copyright restrictions on the works so designated, either because the term of copyright may have expired without being renewed or because no evidence has been found that copyright restrictions apply.

The lo-res images shared as part of The Commons are for personal research and enjoyment. The Air & Space Museum does not warrant that the sharing of these images will not infringe upon the rights of third parties holding rights to these works. It is your responsibility to determine and satisfy copyright and other use restrictions before copying, transmitting, or making other use of protected items. If you have any knowledge about rights holders for any of these works, please contact the Library & Archives of the San Diego Air & Space Museum at 619.234.8291 ext. 125.

It is the policy of the San Diego Air & Space Museum to charge licensing fees for commercial use of these images, which helps fund ongoing efforts to care for our collection. If you are interested in licensing for commercial use, please contact the Library & Archives

@Signaleer: Marking an image as Fair Use on Commons causes it to be automatically tagged for speedy deletion; fair use is not allowed on Commons. If you feel that the {{PD-SDASM}} tag is illegitimate, please consider nominating the template for deletion rather than changing the individual status of photos from SDASM. -- King of ♥{{}} 17:07, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@King of Hearts: I understand that the Wiki Commons does not allow fair use images but based on the guidance on the SDASM site, it appears that this image would be classified as "fair use" for educational purposes noted in item (3). I'm not comfortable enough to make that call, hence I created a discussion. -Signaleer (talk) 17:49, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Usually, "No known copyright restrictions" means that the work is PD by law (either USGov or expired), rather than released to the public domain by its copyright holder. So for these works, it doesn't matter what SDASM's terms and conditions say, we don't have to respect them for mere scans of PD works. -- King of ♥ 18:34, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Identification?[edit]

Is this Willow Run (Michigan, Ford), or is it San Diego (California, Consolidated-Vultee)? Seems confused at present, but it can't be both. Andy Dingley (talk) 10:05, 28 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
