Regardless whether Info pages are mature enough for wide usage, their merit for this page has been proved, and subtracting it makes a worse page. For example, if you search for USS IOWA in Russian or Japanese, you will find this image on Commons because of this Info Page. After Pmsyyz's edit, this will no longer be the case. Is that an improvement? I re-including it until such time as the features it includes are replaced with similar functionality wikitext or other templates. -Mak 06:05, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Searching for USS IOWA in Russian or Japanese, you will find the category page which will link to this page. All the info that {{More}} inserts should be on the normal page or category page for the subject of the photo anyway, and a link to that page is almost always in the description on the image page. This template family has not been reviewed by the Commons community and should not be used except for isolated experimentation. Please stop spreading it so widely before then. --Pmsyyz 06:37, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You are wrong. Google will find that page today. It won't after the site is nexted crawled by google.: [1] Actually, you also are quite mistaken about the utility such a template for full text search. I refer you to the searches listed on the village pump: Commons:Village_pump#Google_is_beginning_to_work_on_image_pages. Explain to me how the kind of searches people normally do will work using some alternate proposal.
I wrote that statement to discourage use by folks that do not understand that it could change radically. Anyone can create templates, and you don't have to have commons review to write new ones.
In any case, since I wrote that, it has subsequently undergone some review and prolonged discussion. Commons has no policy either way on use of the template, so there is no basis for removing the template on that score.
Since you are mistaken on your argument regarding Commons process, the utility for full text search, and because your change has resulted in a significant degradation of capability (also you removed the Iowa links), I am reverting your change. -Mak 07:48, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
