Postal card or cover?[edit]
@Arno-nl: Hi Arno, can you double check if this is a postal card or cover? Thanks. --Michael Romanov (talk) 23:46, 13 April 2016 (UTC)
- Michael, imho this is a postcard. The term postcard is clearly differentiated from the term postal card. Postcard is a term to designate cards (1) prepared by private companies and which (2) do not have prepaid franking while a postal card is issued by the relevant postal authority. To my knowledge this set (cover and postcard) was not prepared by the government and both have no prepaid franking but have stamps affixed.Arno-nl (talk) 07:53, 14 April 2016 (UTC)
- OK, I agree with you. So, this file is cover? Both the card and cover looks similar, hence my confusion. --Michael Romanov (talk) 12:40, 14 April 2016 (UTC)
- This file shows the postcard.Arno-nl (talk) 13:17, 14 April 2016 (UTC)

Issuer?[edit]
Who issued this card and the matching cover?Arno-nl (talk) 07:53, 14 April 2016 (UTC)
- The issuer was definitely not the government. I would say that Herr Norbert Frischer prepared himself both of them (cover and card) and asked the polar expedition members to send him back these two philatelic souvenirs (see, for example, Philatelic cover). --Michael Romanov (talk) 12:40, 14 April 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks Michael -lucrative business- this set is still highly demanded.Arno-nl (talk) 13:17, 14 April 2016 (UTC)
- Did a quick Google on Frischer, maybe we can use this info in an article about him. Norbert Frischer was an active dealer from about 1931 up to at least 1952 (see this ebay item). I found some interesting info on this stamp dealer.

- Cool! Thanks for the fruitful search outcome! A good idea to create an article about him. Then, two his items we are discussing could be article's illustration. --Michael Romanov (talk) 15:10, 14 April 2016 (UTC)
- I found in the Russian publications (as reflected now in two Russian Wikipedia articles) that there was the first polar aircraft flight made in 1932 from Franz Josef Land to Arkhangelsk within the framework of the 2nd International Polar Year. The red triangular cachet was dedicated to this event. Both your files are now used in Russian Wikipedia. Thanks a lot for them! Cheers, --Michael Romanov (talk) 00:16, 15 May 2016 (UTC)
