This graphic started as an albumen carte de visite by Elliott & Fry circa 1872, or the same image in some larger size. The photograph was then used as the basis for a wood engraving in the Illustrated London News; date of this publication not known (yet) to this contributor. Scanning and/or preparation of the original printed wood engraving has been poorly executed, and the result is visually unsatisfactory. The sideburn on the left as one looks at the portrait is just a dark mess. Recommendation: we should delete this version and seek a source for the original photograph.
