This map title is quite problematic; It suggests the borders of "State of Palestine"; a state that does not exist yet, nor is there a concrete proposition of its border; a more factual "de facto" proposition would take in consideration the current route of the separation wall for example, not to mention other popular propositions; but that is probably not relevant here. this image shows the west bank and gaza strip; and should be titled accordingly. --Uwe a (talk) 22:52, 14 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Uwe a The State of Palestine is a recognised sovereign state by the United Nations. The map shows the territory claimed by the State of Israel in a lighter shade of green. Undisputed regions of the West Bank occupied by the State of Israel are not signified as Israel does not claim these regions, and it's presence in these regions is internationally regarded as illegal occupation. This map doesn't simply show the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and is titled accordingly. Regards, Rob (talk) 20:45, 21 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Rob The recognition is one thing and the borders is another, the recognition does not include nor imply any borders, the area highlighted light green are en:No_man's_land_(West_Bank)#Israel_-_Jordan and the borders of en:Municipality_of_Jerusalem, which was annexed after 1967, and probably later redefined as well, so it should be titled "oPt", occupied Palestinian territory(ies) as the original map suggests, or as i mentioned earlier, the west bank and gaza strip or a title that reflects the conditions those borders were defined under; en:1949 Armistice Agreements or so.--Uwe a (talk) 21:18, 23 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Uwe a See the convention for the creation of orthographic maps. The UN's position on a state's borders is irrelevant. If a state has disputed territory with another state, we show this area in a lighter shade of green on both states' maps.
In regards to the name of the image, this is a locator map of the State of Palestine at the present time. It doesn't matter if this is also a locator map of the west bank and gaza strip, or occupied Palestinian territories. If the title is not incorrect, then I see no reason to move the image.

If the no man's land isn't claimed by the State of Palestine, or the State of Israel, or both, then the map can be modified according. Rob (talk) 13:05, 24 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Rob984, your last comment shows you either ignored or did not understand my first note, this file is widely used now, with a misleading name, disseminating incorrect information, nor Israel neither the palestinian authority or PLO are agreeing on the boarders the way your map suggests, Israel is claiming large chunks of the west bank if not all of it. even if we Ignore all of this, the title would still be incorrect, it would then need to be changed to "claimed by XYZ", and I'd love to see a reference for that too.--Uwe a (talk) 01:20, 6 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
and yes, the title *is* incorrect, this is clearly stated in the first comment.--Uwe a (talk) 01:25, 6 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
