Subject:Elizabeth Banks image request for Wikipedia
Hello, I am one of the administrators at Wikipedia, the online free encyclopedia, and I was wondering if we could possibly use your image of "Elizabeth Banks (http://flickr.com/photos/gdcgraphics/2886727234/) for the article on the actress and possibly others. Right now Wikipedia is one of the top ten most-viewed websites on the Internet, and it is possible that thousands of people could see your image over time. Additionally, we would give you the credit on the image's page and include a link back to your Flickr page (if you wish), which would drive more viewers to your profile. If you give us permission, I would upload the image for use on the page en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elizabeth_Banks and possibly other articles.
We can only use your image if you are willing to grant permission for it to fall under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Text_of_the_GFDL), the Creative Commons Attribution (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/), or the Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike License (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/). It would be your choice of how you want your image covered, so if you do want to allow the use of the image, take a look at the three licenses. The pages state that anyone will have the right to share and, where appropriate, to update your image, while giving you credit. Additionally, the articles state that other people might crop the image further, but you would still have your name and Flickr account as the author of the image. For example, it would look something like en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Samuel_L._Jackson_%282006_Pebble_Beach%29.jpg
Let me know if the image can be used for the free encyclopedia whenever it is convenient for you. If you do choose so, please reply back saying "I agree to release the image "Elizabeth Banks" under the terms of the GFDL license/Creative Commons Attribution/Creative Commons Attribution Sharealike" (whichever one of the three licenses you want to pick). Thank you so much for letting us use the image. I have uploaded it on Wikimedia Commons (which will allow all of the different language Wikipedias to possibly use it on a variety of pages while still attributing it to you). You can see the image here: commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:ElizabethBanks2008TIFF.jpg. If you go to the page and click on the tab at the top that says "check usage", you can always see which of the different language Wikipedias are using it and in which articles. Right now I've added it to the main "Elizabeth Banks" page on the English Wikipedia. If you ever have any questions about your image, let me know, and thanks again for letting us use it.
By the way, I just realized that you have a lot of other images of celebrities, which could be used for improving many other articles. Would you be willing to release any of the other images as well? If you approved, I would upload them the same way I did for the Elizabeth Banks image. If you'd like to allow us to use any of them, just send me the same message saying "I agree to release the images in the set(s) "xxxxx" (whatever sets you'd be willing to release) under the Creative Commons Attribution license." If not, I appreciate you allowing the use of the Elizabeth Banks image. Thanks!
