Roman numerals issue[edit]

First, I'm glad to have the seal made, Thank you NikNaks.
Okay boys, so here's the issue. The Roman Numerals at the bottom of the Governor's seal correspond to the number of the Governor in office. Currently it's at the 17th Governor of the State, which is why the numerals say 17. So we have basically 3 options, and idk which one to take. A: We can leave the Roman numerals in, and change them with every new governor, B: we can take it out and leave that area blank, or C: we can add the date 1896 from the same location on the State Seal of Utah, which corresponds to the year of Statehood. Which do you think would be most prudent?

Well, I think it would be best to keep the numerals and change it each time there's a new governor, as that's the most accurate. It's also not too difficult to do, so long as people are alert enough to the change. NikNaks talk - gallery - wikipedia 19:48, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Just waiting for Zscout's view. I would generally agree, my only concern was, as you mentioned, people staying alert enough to remember to change the numerals when a new governor comes in. Fry1989 (talk) 19:55, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I know the same is done for California, but if this is going to be used for general articles, infoboxes, templates, I think the numerals could be safely removed so we don't have to worry about looking for updates I am going to be upfront and say I won't be honestly be on the lookout for new governors of Utah to update this seal. A good point. I'm half and half, and could go either way really. Fry1989 (talk) 20:01, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
So long as someone is both interested enough to notice a new governor and knows to contact the graphics lab or one of the editors, I don't see why it should be an issue. I'm more than happy to maintain it if someone watches the page. NikNaks talk - gallery - wikipedia 20:16, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I don't object to the updating at all, I am just saying I am not sure if it is needed. If you wish to update it, that is fine by me. User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 20:19, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's not a huge change to make once every few years, really. I don't see why we should be inaccurate when it's something so small. NikNaks talk - gallery - wikipedia 20:22, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
That's a good point. I could keep an eye out, and contact NikNaks or the Lab whenever. Fry1989 (talk) 20:36, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The only other problem is this: This seal will most likely be used on historical governor's pages on different-language wikipedias. That means that it would be incorrect as they would have their own seal with different numerals. So should we upload a the old seal separately as "Seal of the 17th Governor of Utah" (example) when we update this one? Idk, I'm a little confused. Fry1989 (talk) 20:59, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I see the problem. I *could* feasibly go and retroactively create sixteen more. NikNaks talk - gallery - wikipedia 21:08, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
And then we'd have 16 damn seals haha. IDK, this is such a little conundrum. Fry1989 (talk) 21:17, 26 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
