Data missing[edit]

I'm missing essential information about the picture, e.g. the artist or the book it is originating from. 06:53, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

As Mattes said 17 years ago, this lacks any information. We don't know where the file came from, so can't check its copyright status, and we don't know where the original image came from, so we don't have a reliable source for the claim that it is 1475. (There are 19th-century fakes for flat earth claims.) Beyond that, we need to know the country, the artist, the context of the original (is it from a theology book, a chronicle, a pamphlet?) to be able to evaluate it. And as a matter of courtesy we should name the library that houses the original, preferably with shelfmark. This matters, as the image is included in articles which are not uncontroversial, such as Firmament, which is an article some people get quite irate about. Perhaps Haabet can help? --Doric Loon (talk) 18:59, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
