OMG u can hypertext historical painting portraits to other pictures! "Lorenzo Tornabuoni" right edge above Botticelli's self portrait warps to The Tornabuoni Chapel and the Stanza della Segnatura and the Sistine Chapel and copies of those pictures can be found in Raphael, da Vinci, Ghirlandaio and all over Lombardia.

(The Tornabuonis were also big in Rome and Ghirlandio knows Giovanna Tornabuoni went to Lake Garda, but that isn't Raphael's scandel, and hypertexting historical paintings warps into more than we now know.^)

Changes to the identity of two figures[edit]
Mino de Fiesole left two excellent portrait busts of Piero de' Medici and Giovanni de' Medici. There has never been the slightest doubt as to which of the two brothers is which. Piero has far more hair than Giovanni. Giovanni has a prominent bumpy forehead.
For some very odd reason, the identity of the two figures representing the brothers Medici in this painting are frequently reversed. The kneeling brother (the more active brother) is Giovanni de' Medici. Piero the Gouty is standing. He probably hadn't knelt for years. In this picture his arm is being supported by a younger person.
So why has the younger brother been honoured as a king? One might also ask why it is that Giuliano, the younger of the next generation, is honoured as king, while Lorenzo stands to the extreme left, about to head off on his diplomatic mission. Amandajm (talk) 10:20, 14 May 2014 (UTC)
