@Cmglee: Is there a canonical ordering of the base units (here, s-kg-mol-cd-K-A-m from the top clockwise)? https://nist.gov/pml/owm/metric-si/si-units seems to use kg-m-s-A-K-mol-cd... Arlo James Barnes 21:25, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
Dependency diagram - According to File_talk:Unit_relations_in_the_new_SI.svg, the order was chosen to show that the definition of the units roughly depend on those above or to the left. Except for m and s, the colours (standardised as on https://www.bipm.org/en/-/2019-wmd-fundamentally and https://www.nist.gov/pml/owm/metric-si/si-units ) also form a colour wheel.
