I wondered that too. Googling did not turn up any other cuirasses with holes that I could find, and it seems like a rather bad idea for the obvious reason. Initially, I thought maybe it was for air-cooling, but I now reject that hypothesis because, what with the mail, gambeson, and other layers, there'd likely be very little cooling effect. My other thought was that it'd been shot by a firearm, but the holes look too round and evenly-spaced. Can anyone shed any light on this? Perhaps it's a joke.
