Outdated description[edit]

The current version is no longer equirectangular, as in the description. It looks like the orthogonal projection, but does anyone have a second opinion before I change it? cmɢʟee ⋅τaʟκ 20:33, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Gringer. cmɢʟee ⋅τaʟκ 19:54, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dates[edit]

The arrow pointing to New Zealand is labelled "AD 1200" but arrival of Polynesians in New Zealand was circa 1300. I doubt it took them en route 1000 years to migrate from the Cook Islands. Unless I am misinterpreting the migraiton map. Can this be amended? (tagging Gringer) --Hazhk (talk) 13:08, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

AD 1200 was our best guess based on the available evidence at the time this map was created. The 2011 paper I've referenced states a minimum date of AD 1000, and a maximum of AD 1290 (see Fig. 1 and the paragraph just after it). AD 1300 is too late, given this range.
