I'm not certain. According to the (unsourced) wikipedia article, the current key was standardized in 1912. Here is an image of a 1923 key with the same form http://www.bonanzle.com/booths/Paceset9999/items/Phi_Beta_Kappa_1923_Tufts_U_10k_Gold_Key_Fob. My key is more recent than that
