source images[edit]
Moved from File talk:Notre-Dame-Fire.gif
@Tuvalkin: The images you added do look similar, but not the same, so I don't believe they are the source images for this gif. --Lasunncty (talk) 05:35, 17 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Lasunncty and MTWEmperor: Well spotted, Lasunncty. However it is necessary to find the images MTWEmperor used. I suggest the following:
- File:Notre Dame dalla Senna.jpg — remote source for this mosaic
- File:Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris 16 avril 2019.jpg — not this one, but another taken on the same day or week (note the two red vans); I haven't been able to find it in Category:Notre-Dame de Paris in 2019 after 15 April fire.

- I found the images in this article. However, while other images in the article have attributions, these do not. --Lasunncty (talk) 10:17, 19 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Lasunncty: What do you mean, you found? This image was first uploaded MTWEmperor — are you two the same? Also, please note that the source images for this kind of animations and mosaics need to abide with COM:L: Please recreate this using free source images, or else it must be deleted. (Once it’s overwritten with a replacement made from free images, old versions of this file will have to be deleted, too.) -- Tuválkin ✉ ✇ 12:58, 19 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Tuvalkin: I mean I did an image search to see where they might have come from and turned up that article. MTWEmperor might be able to verify if this is actually the source or not. But I agree, if these images are not free we should recreate it with free ones. --Lasunncty (talk) 00:21, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Lasunncty: Oh, I undertsand now! -- Tuválkin ✉ ✇ 00:33, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
- I went ahead and created a new animation using free source images: File:Notre Dame before and after 2019 fire.gif. --Lasunncty (talk) 09:38, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
- @Lasunncty: Excellent result! -- Tuválkin ✉ ✇ 23:07, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
- In view of all of the above, I replaced all the uses of the old GIF with the new one, and set the old one for speedy deletion for lack of source. -- Tuválkin ✉ ✇ 23:07, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
