Time not passing[edit]

Image seems broken, I only see the state at year 1700. (Browser Firefox 25 on Windows 7, if this is important.) --Šedý (talk) 09:53, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

SVG Version[edit]

hi, could we please get an svg version of this remarkable map? i suggest using all countries grouped together for a particular time period, and different layers for if moment in time displayed in the sequence. Besides emphasizing value of this map i stress the request for a vector file. thanks for the map! --SuperPowerJoe

Brazil-Bolivia border[edit]

Nice map! There's a little problem tough. The southern border between Brazil and Bolivia is not correct. A small portion, ceded by Bolivia in 1867, was not "transferred" (on the map) to the Brazilian territory. Dantadd 13:38, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good call I missed that. -- Esemono 06:16, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Falklands-Malvinas[edit]

The Falklands-Malvinas islands are missing from the map!--Pruxo 15:29, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't include any of the islands close to South America as this is a map about continental South America -- Esemono 05:43, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Are not Great Britain and Ireland part of Europe, is Japn not in Asia, is New Zealand Not in Oceania? then Why cannot the Falklands be put in?
Great Britain and Japan are all major Island chains. Falklands are tiny islands among many islands all around South America which I didn't include. -- Esemono 13:18, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

To Do[edit]

  • Southern Chile disappears for a bit.

Dutch Spanish[edit]

It is very diffucult to tell the difference between the Dutch and the Spanish. Can someone fix that please? (Red4tribe 01:34, 8 May 2008 (UTC))[reply]

There are only so many colors available. -- Esemono 13:45, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I would also like to comment that the Dutch occupied French Guiana from 1664-1676. (Red4tribe 01:43, 8 May 2008 (UTC))[reply]
But the map starts at 1700 so ... - 13:45, 9 May 2008 (UTC)
Ah my mistake. But it couldn't hurt to change to colors around. (Red4tribe 01:01, 10 May 2008 (UTC))[reply]
To what color? -- Esemono 03:54, 11 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you've used up all of the other colors, I'd just change it to a shade of a different color, or change it to a color where the Dutch/Spanish never bordered, so the difference can be seen. (Red4tribe 19:25, 11 May 2008 (UTC))[reply]
But if I change it to a different country's color then people will get confused with that country i.e. Change to green people will think its part of Brazil. -- Esemono 08:50, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, that is the problem now with the Dutch-Spanish. I would change the Dutch color to another color of a country whom they do not border, such as Argentina or some other country. An example is when the Dutch reoccupied British Guiana in 1802, some people may think that the Spanish occupied instead. (Red4tribe 02:40, 13 May 2008 (UTC))[reply]
Well, I take it since your're not responding that you aren't going to do it. (Red4tribe 13:54, 23 May 2008 (UTC))[reply]
Seems pretty clear to me -- Esemono 13:19, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It is going to seem clear to you because you made the map. But take a random person from China who has little knowledge of the Europeans in South America it would cause a problem. They would probably be confused. Red4tribe 21:09, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll chime in to endorse Red4tribe's comments, the Spanish and Dutch colors really do look the same. You aren't using a bright orange, something like a R255 G170 B15 for the Dutch would work and not interfere with any of the other colors.Kmusser (talk) 19:08, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I used a grey then witched it back when Spain leaves South america -- Esemono (talk) 04:39, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

England or Great Britain/United Kingdom[edit]

After 1707 Britain was an entity as a whole and England was and is just a part of it can we please say at least Britain, Okay putting England to represent Britain is a common American mistake but mistakes can be corrected.--79.69.254.12 19:21, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That should be corrected. I'm not really sure how to animated maps so I Can't do it. (Red4tribe 15:20, 20 May 2008 (UTC))[reply]

Simplified Page[edit]

Why don't you make a page with all the changes in map form so I can print it. I want to get this info in map form but with it being animated I can't get that info.Bulldog24

Colombia[edit]

This map does not have references, it has many mistakes. The one i see is Ecuador not being part of Colombia from it's start. In accordance to maps of the time. Ecuador and it's previous possesions was part of Colombia.

2013 :Venezuelas was independent in 1811, 1813 and 1816 .Colombia was independent by 1812 , but was reconquered by Spain in 1815 .---

A mistake in 1700-1811 map[edit]

The map shows the entire modern Rio Grande do Sul state area as part of Spain colonies or after its independence but this is wrong. At that moment, only the Western part of it remained as en:Spanish Empire territory until 1801 (see en:Misiones Orientales and it's Spanish and Portuguese versions). The south of en:Ibicuí River remained as Spanish possession until 1815 when Portuguese armies invaded these lands and whole Uruguay, as en:Cisplatina Province. A new treaty was signed in 1828, consolidating the modern frontiers between en:Brazil and en:Uruguay due to Uruguayan independence (see en:1828 Treaty of Montevideo). Chile[edit]

Hola. Gracias. Lin linao ¿dime? 00:05, 10 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

State of Buenos Aires[edit]

It would be good if this gif included the en:State of Buenos Aires (by 1861, more powerful than the rival Argentine Confederation.)Ttocserp (talk) 11:41, 7 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A lot of mistakes[edit]

I've found several mistakes in the map. --Zerabat (talk) 13:04, 14 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
