Hi. As the original creator I've been summoned here to clarify here. Short version is the red states are the highlighted ones, the different shades of blue are merely inherited from File:Mexico_states_map_small.png and convey no information. However I'm concerned that this map is still being used as its 10 years old and has not been updated despite the conflict's evolution. I also cannot remember how I chose the states to highlight, I assume I interpreted the article at the time. I must have had some arbitrary threshold for "most intense" that I overlooked writing down, which is something I balk at now as an editor with 10 years more experience. --LukeSurl (talk) 23:02, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
