The Deluge

Hello. I wonder if a naming mistake has occurred. According to http://www.muian.com/muian05/05Martin.htm the John Martin painting you uploaded and called 'The Deluge' is in fact 'Christ Stilleth the Tempest'. The Deluge is a different painting by Martin. (See also Victorian Web.) Of course, Muian and Victorian Web could be wrong, but would you be able to check your sources and make any necessary amends? I can help if you wish. Thank you. --Wavehunter (talk) 16:51, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, I need some time to check that. --Mattes (talk) 17:28, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Any joy? --Wavehunter (talk) 03:11, 17 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Continuation[edit]

First of all, I do not own any book about this painter. The painting is around the web with different names. Can't remember the source.

Excellent detective work! The examples of a John Martin painting named "The Deluge" that you listed under info (above), match the one I found at Victorian Web - although your finds are better quality reproductions in my opinion. --Wavehunter (talk) 21:59, 17 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have requested the rename of this file to the correct title[edit]

Here is the supporting documentation of the correct title, which is "Christ Stilleth the Tempest" (1852):
