Iraq[edit]

Iraq has ratified the convention on 8 March 2016 (see Status of ratification). @Gabbe, Thoroe, and Muso: Could you please update the map? --Leyo 11:57, 18 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Done! -- Thoroe (talk) 16:16, 25 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Malta, Palestine[edit]

@Gabbe, Thoroe, and Muso: Malta and the State of Palestine have recently ratified the Convention. Could you please add them to the map? --Leyo 07:37, 19 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Map has been updated. Small countries got circles now. -- Thoroe (talk) 08:24, 19 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Leyo: According to the source, Greenland is not part of the convention, so I removed it (not the island, but the color...). I also added countries which signed the convention but have not yet ratified it. -- Thoroe (talk) 12:39, 19 June 2018 (UTC) Oh, and I removed Taiwan, because there is no information about it in the source. -- Thoroe (talk) 12:47, 19 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
On that map Greenland is part of Denmark, even though it says Upon ratification on 17 December 2003, Denmark had notified the Secretary-General of the following: With a territorial exclusion in respect of the Faroe Islands and Greenland. on the UNTC website.
The only distinction that matters is whether a country is a party (has ratified) of a non-party (hasn't ratified). Signature is not really relevant. --Leyo 22:30, 19 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Greenland "is an autonomous constituent country within the Kingdom of Denmark" (enwiki). So when Denmark ratifies the convention, but says Greenland is excluded, it means that the convention is not applied to that territory - just like Greenland is not a member of the EU, although Denmark is. Marking Greenland in green would be misleading. -- Thoroe (talk) 22:59, 19 June 2018 (UTC) Having those countries on the map that signed the convention but have not ratified it, is just additional information. No information about party/non-party gets lost or distorted. -- Thoroe (talk) 23:15, 19 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Then, I'd suggest choosing another color to emphasize this important difference. --Leyo 09:00, 20 June 2018 (UTC) PS. It would be good to change the caption of all transclusions to make this clear.[reply]
Agreed. I hope it's clear now. -- Thoroe (talk) 10:29, 20 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Equatorial Guinea[edit]

Equatorial Guinea ratified the convention on 24 December 2019 (see Status of ratification). @Thoroe and Mysportedit: Could you please update the map? --Leyo 22:03, 21 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Done. -- Thoroe (talk) 09:25, 22 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Grenada[edit]

Grenada ratified the convention on 15 October 2021 (see treaties.un.org). I don't know whether this will trigger a visible change to the map though. --Leyo 07:27, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It's just another small dot in the caribbean. But added. -- Thoroe (talk) 08:34, 20 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Italy[edit]

Italy ratified the convention on 29 September 2022 (see treaties.un.org). --Leyo 01:30, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Thoroe (talk) 11:23, 22 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. --Leyo 21:17, 22 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Greenland[edit]

… should now also appear in green. By a communication received on 22 March 2024, the Government of Denmark notified the Secretary-General that it had decided to withdraw the declaration, made upon ratification, regarding the territorial exclusion in respect of Greenland. --Leyo 09:24, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you say so... Thoroe (talk) 09:43, 25 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for updating. --Leyo 14:54, 26 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
