This image is in need of updating. The rectangle is supposed to show the area that the picture represents, but it obviously doesn't. The rectangle encloses a large area of water southeast of the penninsula, and smaller straights of water on either side. The picture itself only shows a very tiny portion of that.

I completely agree with this. I just wanted to find out quickly where Bahrein is located and tried to use this picture for that, but it was not that much help without reading the article. It is not instantly clear, if Bahrein is in the Gulf or in the Red Sea when using this picture. I think the rectangle itself is located well, it helps the user to see both the Gulf and the Red Sea, but please update the cut-out.
