Appears to be public domain[edit]
I forget the details, but my understanding is that the Foundation takes the position that faithful copies of two-dimensional public-domain works are themselves public domain. The work in question appears to be old enough to be in the public domain. --Trovatore (talk) 16:05, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Trovatore: Agree in theory. But nevertheless the file needs truthful source and author details, and frankly none of the uploader's contributions contains such basic information. By the way: I just noticed that the same image seems to be available at en:File:Kalpasutra.jpg with a lot better and properly attributed image history, and would be up to be copied to Commons. I am not sure about the exact processing, but maybe the en-Wiki file could be transferred into a new Commons file instead of using this one? GermanJoe (talk) 20:10, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
- Update: the image information has been improved now (thanks to Achim55). GermanJoe (talk) 20:52, 28 May 2018 (UTC)
