This isn't the original illustration by Henry Holiday[edit]

This is an illustration similar to the one which I found in an low quality American 1910 Macmillan edition of "The Hunting of the Snark". That isn't the original illustration.

https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:The_Banker_s_Fate.jpg is a scan from the 1st edition (1876). That is the original illustration. There you will see a little white spot which had been removed in the later American Macmillan edition.

I think (of course I can be wrong) that the spor is no error. It perhaps "migrated" from another image into Holiday's illustration: See https://www.academia.edu/9964379/Schnarkverschlimmbesserung and https://redd.it/3qv83e

{{Edit protected}} Could an admin remove the ref to "Mr Bones" and the ref in the English description please? The referred book is a modern (2008) work of fiction, and nothing to do with the original illustration or poem. See also [1].
