Wrong caption, insufficient explanation[edit]

@Eloquence: Insufficient explanation & slightly erroneous original German caption leads to image being used in the wrong place/with faulty caption (see Joshua article).
What we have here are TWO images, both with MOSES, not Joshua as the central character:
- Topic: Moses at Sinai.
- Moses ("MOYS"): black hair & beard, dressed in white; on the left in both images
- Joshua ("JOSUE"): fair hair, red tunic, white cloak, yellowish trousers and boots, with staff; on the left margin of both images
- Aaron ("AARON"): with crown, red cloak and staff. Ahead of the group receiving the Law from Moses
- The heads of the 12 Tribes of Israel: group of 12 men, bottom image, right.
Question: who can decipher the inscription above their heads? Seems to start with "Fillii", but what comes next isn't "Israel". Also: who are the 13th and 14th man, next to and behind Aaron?

  • 1 (top) Moses receiving the Tables of the Law from God
  • 2 (bottom) Moses giving the Law to the people; Joshua to the left, Aaron ahead of the 12 receiving the Law, on the right

Last: We need the English translation of "Karolingischer Buchmaler", or else editors copy that as being the name of the artist, as it happened at Joshua. So: Carolingian book illuminator (unless you have a better one). Arminden (talk) 09:10, 20 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
