Picture Talks[edit]

Colors[edit]

Stop changing colors of this image! Miraceti (talk) 14:49, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The map is very File:Flag of Germany.svg () in its current colors. Do deaths really have to be shown in black? Seems a bit over the top. --auburnpilot talk 15:32, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

--Agreed with Miraceti.
If you change the colors of the map, you will have to edit the caption in 28 other languages or so. Allstrak (talk) 21:06, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

not only captions here, but also captions on each local wiki pages (now 199 pages in 55 wikis), that are using that picture. So it is better to not change colours anymore. --Jklamo (talk) 12:42, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

CSS vs fill[edit]

I thnik that updating image using CSS country definitions has many advantages - it is easy, more accurate (exclaves, islands) and positive for filesize. I do not see any advantage for using fill, so i propose to use CSS def. only. --Jklamo (talk) 13:33, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree completely. I just updated to a new version (01:56, 8 May 2009) and it was impossible to update easily because of so many manual fills scattered in the file. It was actually easier to take the world template from wikimedia and do all the map all again. Not sure about the cases, please update the template and/or this SVG if needed. I just wanted to help creating an easier to update SVG. :-) David (talk) 02:43, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Country Talks[edit]

Brazil[edit]

I think Brazil should be removed from the map as an "unconfirmed cases" country. There were two suspected cases, but these were later described by the Ministry of Health as not being caused by the virus of concern (see here for summary). I have already removed Brazil twice, so I won't remove it again. Does anyone else have an opinion on this? --Oldak Quill 00:17, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There have been more new cases reported in Brazil since this comment was made. --Oldak Quill 02:44, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Venezuela[edit]

There are 3 new possible cases in Valencia, Venezuela. The source is this: http://www.globovision.com/news.php?nid=115662, it's about 3 persons that have travelled to Mexico and are hospitalized due to a strange flu in the CHET (a hospital of Valencia City). The map should be orange.

I know that in Zimbabwe there is a new suspect case too. Please check it.

please put 4x ~ behind your message next time!!! --Allstrak (talk) 21:06, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Costa Rica[edit]

Should be red; [1] [2]. ~~×α£đ~~es 19:15, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is red. odder 21:19, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Iceland[edit]

Iceland should not be orange anymore. The suspected cases turned out to be false alarms. Cf. en:Template_talk:2009_swine_flu_outbreak_table#Iceland --Cessator (talk) 15:07, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

India[edit]

Please remove India, it was a false alarm, the test was negative: [3]. Please update. --Redtigerxyz (talk) 11:33, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Done. –AnzeeTM 12:04, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Peru[edit]

Change the color of Peru from red to yellow; the test only proved to be H1 but not the N1 [4] . Please update it. Thank you. Kindly, Linfocito B | Greetings from Colombia! 19:52, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Done. odder 21:19, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Wrong change, it's now gray. It's supposed to be yellow. And by the way, check Bolivia (under Peru), there are "suspicious" cases there, so it will better be yellow and not red. Kindly, Linfocito B | Greetings from Colombia! 21:33, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Bolivia is yellow already, am fixing my own mistake with Peru, thanks for pointing this out. odder 22:23, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much :D. Kindly, Linfocito B | Greetings from Colombia! 22:28, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Source[edit]

I propose to keep en:Template:2009 swine flu outbreak table (with stated revision) as ultimate source and not reference there or in upload edit summary; to not divide unnecessarily referencing and (country) discussions to mulpitle pages. --Jklamo (talk) 13:06, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I propose that refernces should be made in the upload edit summary so that users of this picture has the source in this project. And on an more general principle, this is the place where different language versions of all Wikimedia projects are supposed to collaborate, not in the english version of the Wikipedia project. /Ainali (talk) 15:12, 1 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Then we have lack of more than 50 references. If you can post reference in any language here, why reference to english source is bad from that view (in fact maybe half of references in linked template is not in english).--Jklamo (talk) 12:52, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Add Colombia and Puerto Rico[edit]

Sorry i think i made a mistake, i tried to add Colombia and Puerto Rico, but for some reasons it didnt work and now i cant see the map. :S here are the references for Puerto Rico and Colombia should be in dark orange.--Vrysxy (talk) 06:59, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Also in South America remove the French Guiana (I don't know how to do it). It's nonsense to have it there even when it is indeed a French overseas department. Kindly, Linfocito B | Greetings from Colombia! 13:46, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Netherlands[edit]

The Netherlands now has one confirmed death, can somebody put that on the map? Allard88 (talk) 14:38, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Norway, Poland and Portugal[edit]

Norway isn't mentioned in the template here and should therefore not be yellow. Portugal, on the other hand, has a confirmed case and should be red. And POland has a suspected case and should be yellow. --Cessator (talk) 13:53, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Australia[edit]

Australia needs to be changed to "confirmed", as a woman has now tested positive to the virus in NSW: [5]

Turkey[edit]

Turkey should be red [6]. It was confirmed today by the minister of health--85.102.51.28 10:00, 16 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've updated the image. Adambro (talk) 10:45, 16 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Turkey should be black now. [9] Thank you.--194.27.72.27 18:59, 24 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

✓ Done. --Ecr (talk) 20:31, 25 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Taiwan[edit]

Taiwan should be yellow, because Taiwan has no confirmed infection right now. 小籃子 (talk) 01:10, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

✓ Done. Lankiveil (talk) 04:16, 18 May 2009 (UTC).[reply]
Taiwan should be red now, because CDC of Taiwan confirmed first infection on May 20.[10].小籃子 (talk) 01:42, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

United Kingdom[edit]

UK needs to be colored black, first confirmed death occured today. Source is a BBC Report. Stordoff (talk) 19:54, 14 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Republic of korea[edit]

[11] korea need to become black--Leedors527 (talk) 03:36, 15 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sweden[edit]

The description "Karta av de stater som blivit drabbade av den nya H1N1 influensan 2009" should read "Karta av de länder som blivit drabbade av den nya H1N1 influensan 2009". Note that "stater" is replaced by "länder". 194.17.163.26 08:04, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Can refresh be regular?[edit]

WHO puts out updates at 0600 and at 1600 GMT. The template is refreshed by editors soon after. The latest WHO update was update 22. Note that the arithmetic in the WHO update is (prima facie) flawed, but it's what we have and is sufficient for this purpose. Could the image be regularly refreshed from the template after it is updated?LeadSongDog (talk) 20:29, 8 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Color choices[edit]

I find the color choices to be poor. To color all of North America black makes it look like it has been wiped out by H1N1 (swine flu). I can personally attest that this is not the case. --SVTCobra (talk) 00:27, 19 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm pretty sure Croatia isn't infected with swine flu. Patient has got just a seasonal flu, that was mistake from laboratory in London.--Vatrena ptica (talk) 19:09, 20 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

North Korea?[edit]

Is there swine flu in North Korea? if there is confirmed case, cite the references.

It's unrealistic that the goverment of North Corea will public any information.

Lithuania[edit]

Please, add death in Lithuania [12]. Hugo.arg (talk) 20:34, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
