Looks to me that this is a copy after Semiradski. First, the painter would probably not have cut off a figure right in the middle, without even showing part of his head (the man on the right side, with his arm raised). In the original painting (see it here), this figure is shown in full, and there's quite a bit more to the right of that figure. Second, the seller's web page states 1882, but the photo of the label on the backside clearly says 1892: [1]. So, done three years after the original; maybe by Semiradski himself, or by some copist. Besides, "Roma" is not necessarily the title of that painting; it could just as well also be the place where this "Ch. Taylor" bought this painting. Lupo 14:50, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
