I am just wondering why that guy keeps reverting it to the original version. I personally don't care since they're all there for download--but I'm just wondering why. Is it because that one (the original version) is the actual one in the public domain? Or for some other reason..? 67.42.153.166 11:46, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think because the original is more hires. -- Bryan (talk to me) 11:48, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It might be a bigger file size, but it is an inferior quality image. The smaller one has far more subtle tonal gradations and better detail. Compare the hands which are whited out in the bigger version, and have detail in the smaller one. Not only is the bigger version worse to start with, it has also been hideously "auto levelled" to make it even starker with heavy blacks and whites, and loss of intermediate greys. This is a violation of the integrity of the original. Compare:

current version

sepia version

sepia converted to greyscale

The sepia is the best version, but the conversion to greyscale would be fine if it were lightened.
