This flag was never used by the Republic of New Connecticut, later renamed Vermont. It was likely never used by any Vermont Militia unit either as the original appears to be of the same construction as other Continental Flags issued to the Continental Army after 1778. Vermont had no Continental regiments. Also there is a fragment of the flag that indicates there was much more to the design than a plain green field.
