Doesn't change the fact that an exact conversion between device-independent and device-dependent can only take place under carefully-calibrated conditions with respect to monitor characteristics, ambient lighting, etc. Notice that "Monitor and Printer Calibration" is among the commercial services/products that Pantone provides?
