Origin of this specific design[edit]

@Svgalbertian: , what is the source of this design? It has a number of differences with the flag in actual use (see comparison here). Ibadibam (talk) 23:50, 8 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It is based off en:File:Milwaukee Flag.png (via [1]) as well as a photo provided by the City of Milwaukee for some details I could not make out from that drawing. I assume you are referring to this article which would be helpful context. One thing I will note is that flags are defined typically defined by a blazon. There is almost never an "official" picture of a flag, just a definition of the elements contained in the flag. The illustrator of the flag is then free to draw the elements as they wish. Therefor in this example no two people will likely draw the Milwaukee City Hall tower the same. Even the photo city hall sent me has some odd elements to the tower and doesn't match the other image you sent (e.g. it has the word "Welcome" on it). --Svgalbertian (talk) 14:32, 13 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I have uploaded the photo I received from the city at http://imgur.com/90NHbJG. I know there are almost no high quality versions of the flag out there aside from the one I drew so hopefully it is useful to all in the current debate.--Svgalbertian (talk) 15:50, 13 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks very much for this, and thanks for your recent updates! I've added some of the information you gave me to a discussion on Wikipedia. Ibadibam (talk) 21:53, 4 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
