"No original authorship"?[edit]

As of this edit, the information box has these two lines, one immediately after the other:

  • Author: George F.G. Stanley
  • Permission (Reusing this file): This work is ineligible for copyright and therefore in the public domain because it consists entirely of information that is common property and contains no original authorship.

https://www.canada.ca/en/canadian-heritage/services/flag-canada-history.html#a4 indicates that George F.G. Stanley is the author, and thus there is original authorship.

It is unfortunate that we have to use the word author because different people interpret it to mean different things. For better or for worse, common practice for SVG flags is to specify the name of the person that created and uploaded the SVG file. I just changed the entry. About Alice Hunter's changes[edit]

Some major changes to this file were made by Alice on Jan 8,2021:

  • Drastic color change.
  • Viewbox resized.
  • All path data converted from integers to floating point.
  • Arcs degraded to Bézier appromations.
  • Color definitions moved to CSS.
  • etc, etc.

I rolled back all changes.
In future:

  • Please do not make major changes without discussing them here first.
  • Please do not edit the optimized SVG code in Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape!

Thank you. MapGrid (talk) 07:57, 9 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
