Invention

[edit]

This blason and this one is not just invented, but politically motivated. Nowhere does the creator claim this is in fact a real blason for the Kingdom of Valencia, but this is clearly what he or she would like us to believe. In fact, there is nothing innocent about this invention. Many images of castles appear on historical buildings without them being regarded as the "official" blason, and whatismore this image is not repeated anywhere else. I have seen this image on the cathedral entrance, surrounded by several Catalan flags (the one's with the four red bars on gold), which the creator has conveniently not mentioned. It is total bias to assume this image as the symbol of the Valencian Kingdom when historians agree the flag used was the royal, Catalan, flag, called Penó de la Conquesta. Later on we can see the crown and the blue part were added, giving the actual flag of Valencia. But this blason has no historical basis at all, given that it chooses a castle, ads the colour blue, and removes the Catalan flag. Is it coincidence that the Spanish Nationalists in Valencia are called blaveros because they insist on eliminating all references to Catalonia and changing the flag to remove the red bars? And that they are symbolised by the colour blue, the only part of the Valencian flag which difers from the standard, Catalan one?

I'll let you decide, but I beg you to consider the historical evidence, or lack of it, which the creator has provided. --Espencat (talk) 18:52, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
