Sound waves?[edit]

Shouldn't "Long Radio Waves" be "Audible Sound Waves" or something like that? Supuhstar * § 23:57, 27 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No, because sound waves are not electromagnetic radiation.--Srleffler (talk) 13:50, 15 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Error in "The electromagnetic spectrum" image[edit]

380nm = 7.89*10^14Hz / 750nm = 3.99*10^14Hz / 299.8 = 1*10^15Hz / Frequency 1*10-15Hz is not in visible spectrum ! / Wavelength and frequency measures are errornously shifted. Softvision (talk) 17:27, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, something is off with the alignment in this image. I think it may be that the placement of the rainbow representing the visual spectrum is not accurate. The color rendering in the expanded visible spectrum is also not good. The wavelength 555 nm is green. In the spectrum shown it appears to be yellow.--Srleffler (talk) 13:50, 15 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion[edit]

I've just come across this discrepancy which has not been fixed. Can I suggest that at least it should be adjusted to agree with the Wiki file: File:Linear visible spectrum.svg?

Replacement query[edit]

I'm working on a replacement image for this file incorporating File:Linear visible spectrum.svg I will prepare this in the same range of sizes, but do I retain the old one somewhere?

Also how do I document the changes? Keoka (talk) 03:49, 17 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Everything will be automatically retained. Someone will see the change and bless it or not. Hopefully your work will not be for naught. --184.21.215.174 12:08, 19 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

New revised file[edit]

Revised diagram with re-aligned spectrum

This file is 2000 pixels wide

Delete?[edit]

This is a replacement for the file EM spectrumrev.png which has been marked for deletion

Sizes[edit]

Do I prepare different sizes or is this automatic?\

Visual Representation[edit]

Could we get a visual representation for the wave?\

Comment from a science nerd[edit]

The full-scale electromagnetic spectrum (big picture) is on a logarithmic scale so 550 nm wavelength location is not between 500 and 600 nm but closer to 600 nm. So the original 'Visible light' insert looks fine to me. If you want to use a linear scale for the new insert I would recommend to indicate that a different scale has been used for the insert with respect to the full-scale diagram. Otherwise it might confuse half of the readers. I can see that Keoka thought about that as the filename of the suggested new insert says "linear scale". Just my 2 cents. --ShenAnbo (talk) 18:55, 5 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Correct visible spectrum has been updated[edit]

Please check and see if there is any error left. If everything is perfect, is it fine to clean up this discussion section? Ooker (talk) 09:55, 18 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

PNG preview doesn't match with SVG image?[edit]

The PNG preview seems to have errors, with arrows overlap texts. But if you click on it to get to the SVG file, everything is fine. Do you know why? Ooker (talk) 09:56, 18 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
