Color code[edit]

The map of the Taiwan diplomatic missions was included in today's Wikipedia main page as it illustrates the featured article on the missions.

I wonder however: what is the reason for the use of this color code? Assuming that opening embassies is a feat and a goal of the ROC, then the countries with which it has official relations should be in green, not in orange. The step right before an embassy is a mission, and for this reason most of the world's states should be colored orange.

Perhaps we may not be using the Western color code where green is widely used to mean positive (good, acceptance, victory), while orange means warning or intermediate. But I'm not sure the reverse is used in China either.
