French colonies[edit]

Algeria was a part of France and NATO in 1959. Guyana is a part of France till now so it was part of NATO till now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.108.177.97 (talk • contribs) 16:54, 2008-02-25 (UTC)

That's right, and it's why they appear as "Colonized countries", like other colonies of European states. Sémhur (talk) 19:07, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Algeria and French Guyana[edit]

French Guyana as a french dept. should be dark blue. (French overseas dept. since 1946)
In the same time, it was the case of Algeria, which was a colony in certain ways (if you happened to be Muslim), so in a sense it makes sense to have both Algeria and Guyana in the same color. What you think?

Agree for French Guyana. It was, and still is, a department.
Not agree for Algeria: in 1959, it was during the independance war of this country. Do not see it as a colony seems to me irrelevant. Sémhur (talk) 09:08, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
