Addition of Algeria and Fr. Guiana[edit]

Hello,

In the last edit of this map I have shaded French Guiana in dark blue with France since it became an Overseas Department in 1947 (it still remains one today). See the Coloumbia Encylopedia: [1]

It seems that Algeria was made an Overseas Department of France in 1848. The Infomation Please Almanac says about this:

Ostensibly to rid the region of the pirates, the French occupied Algeria in 1830 and made it a part of France in 1848.

World Statesmen says that "Algiers, Constantine and Oran" became overseas Departments in 1848. Because of this. Algeria has been colored dark blue. Hoshie (talk) 05:50, 24 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello (I know this is an old discussion, but I answer it anyway), Algeria was a French colony. Even though the northern regions were incorporated as French departments, the country as a whole was a colony and as such it should not be in dark blue. Skimel (talk) 17:09, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
