羌塘[edit]

希望有人能留意到并校正藏北高原,尤其是改则县、尼玛县、双湖县之间的边界。--faofao (talk) 14:24, 3 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

claimed versus actual control[edit]

My best guess is that this map is supposed to be the hypothetical representation of the People's Republic of China according to the PRC, because it includes the Matsu Islands and Arunachal Pradesh in pink as if they were part of the PRC despite the fact they are outside the control of the PRC. This is the map we use for talking about PRC claims, but we need one of the actual situation too. --Geographyinitiative (talk) 23:06, 7 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong information[edit]

@ASDFGH, AichiWikiFixer, Not logging in, Maanshen and Whisper of the heart (and other editors): Hi there, thanks for updating the map. However, I found that AichiWikiFixer changed the legend a year ago, which contains incorrect information:

  1. Banner is , not 旗帜 or 横幅; same for the Autonomous Banner (自治旗).
  2. 特别行政区 only refer to Special Administrative Regions (HK and Macau). There are no Special Administrative Areas, but Special District (特区, the only one is Liuzhi Special District).
  3. County-level divisions are 县级行政区, not 县级分区; there are no sub-prefectural level divisions, but only prefecture-level divisions (地级行政区).
  4. It's weird that only Special District and Ethnic District (which is very smaaaaaaall = =......?) were marked, while Forestry District (林区) was removed. According to Statistical Table of Administrative Divisions of the People's Republic of China (2020), only Special District and Forestry Districts were categorised separately, while ethnic areas are grouped under municipal areas.

Therefore, I strongly recommend correcting the legend and reverting it to the previous version:

  • 县 county
  • 县级市 county-level city
  • 自治县 autonomous county
  • 区/特别行政区 district/SAR
  • 旗 banner
  • 自治旗 autonomous banner
  • 特区/林区 special district/forestry district
  • (不设县级行政区)(no county-level division)
