The distinction between organic and anorganic (inorganic?) carbon flows is weird. I'm not sure it's entirely necessary to make. Currently, the labels are unclear; it looks like there are two downward organic paths, and two downward anorganic paths, but the labels are ambiguously placed. The same label style is used to indicate both direction, cause, and type of material in a movement, which is confusing. Perhaps floating labels are best used for verbs (cooling, upwelling, etc.). "Organic" and "anorganic" could be removed entirely and put in a caption. A legend would be a good place to put "particulate", "dissolved", and "gaseous"; the three types of lines (solid, filled dot, and unfilled dot) do clearly show these three different phases. A short line sample for each could go in the legend. Presumably there is an original file which could be uploaded in SVG format for easier editing? -- Beland 21:24, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

may I ask for the expertise of reviewer "Beland"? this remains unclear to me from his homepage. Any critisms are welcome but if it is that fundamental, e.g. "not sure to make a distinction between organic and anorganic" i just want to be sure to discuss with a biogeochemist and not with a wikipedia admin. the critics concerning the legend and file format is ok and well known but this is true for an other 10 000 graphics in commons and thus useless to point out for each graf.
