If this is taken in Ofotfjorden, the date of the image as well as the image name is wrong. Not sure what the best way to handle that is though. Jerazol (talk) 10:44, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure either. The mountain to the left, going straight from the fjord, is Stortind (788 m, sometimes called Strandfjellet). The mountain in the background is Niingen (1090 m, the highest part does not show in image). The mountains was first line of defence against British bombers. I can see it was low tide when the picture was taken (I know that beach very well).

Just recently, a new web page created by the local newspaper Fremover (based in Narvik) collects and displays old images from Evenes municipality, and one of these images shows the same event at the same spot with the same ships in background. This image was taken by Ragnvald Wold, a local resident in the area. The link is here (not the first images). Orcaborealis (talk) 08:51, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
About the date: The other image (linked here, page 2 in the link), which depicts the same event, the same ships in virtually the same position, the same weather and the same low tide (thus surely the same date), says it is taken in 1943 (da han tok dette bildet i 1943). So maybe the Bundesarkiv is wrong about the date as well? Orcaborealis (talk) 13:12, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
August 1942 should be really wrong, according to some sources Tirpitz was under repair in Trondheim from 8. July till 6. September 1942 Artur.Linhart (talk) 16:52, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
