evidence that Charles William Carter was the photographer?[edit]

Hi, I recently uploaded a very similar image, File:Brigham Young bust portrait.jpg from our Charles Roscoe Savage collection. I was wondering what evidence there is that Charles William Carter is the photographer? I tried searching for the photo on Harvard's art museum page, but I couldn't find it. I know Savage sometimes photographed subjects with other photographers at the same time, so it's possible that both men took a photo at the time. Our metadata only says it was "probably" by Savage though, so it could be incorrect. I did find a version of the image listed as a "copy of an image of Brigham Young" in the LDS Church Archive Charles W. Carter glass negative collection. It's right after an image that is definitely from the Savage and Ottinger studio. Does anyone have additional insights on the photo? Rachel Helps (BYU) (talk) 21:22, 14 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Charles William Carter worked in the Savage and Ottinger studio for a while, so it's possible that he took the photo. He also made copies of lots of photos, so it's possible that he didn't. It does appear to be slightly different from the very similar Savage photo. Rachel Helps (BYU) (talk) 16:34, 15 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
