Hold off SD[edit]

This image claims to be a government-created public domain work. If that claim is true, it should not be subject to speedy deletion. It is, of course, possible that the PD claim is untrue. However, I have seen no evidence to contradict the uploader's PD tag. 76.94.211.236 21:48, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately OTRS tickets take precedence over incorrect templates. I'm quite certain this image was added under good faith by an editor that assumed that because it is on Obama's senate page it is in the public domain and it was quite innocently labeled as being PD when it is not. --Bobblehead (talk) 22:33, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
This OTRS ticket contains no evidence... Just a person e-mail from a g-mail account asking us to delete an image that didn't have a source. We delete images missing sources all the time. I've removed the copyvio tag will contact the Obama people tomorrow and verify the ownership. J.smith (talk) 00:46, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, if we're to believe your comment here, you contacted Obama's people when the report was submitted and they confirmed the photographer's ownership. --Bobblehead (talk) 04:39, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If the OTRS ticket doesn't provide any proof that the person is actually the photographer then it could well be a hoax, also I doubt a photographer who produced a photograph for a client could claim copyright over that 'work for hire' Movieevery (talk) 07:28, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
