All of the uses of the coat of arms are official, it is protected under the Austrian constitution (Artikel 8a.[1]). The coat of arms can be affixed only as provided by law. BGBl Nr. 174/1981 prohibits violation of use under threat of fine of not more than öS 50,000 (Bundesgesetzblatt 1984). The depiction of the coat of arms for encyclopedic purposes is allowed. - At least in German, it's definitely known as Wappen, which translates to "coat of arms". —Nightstallion (?) 06:13, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
